Congress Overrides Presidential Veto
On Tuesday, July 15, President Bush vetoed legislation (HR 6331) which would have rescinded the planned 10.6 percent cut in Medicare payments to physicians. As anticipated, both the House and Senate had enough support to override the President's veto. The House voted to override the veto 383-41, and the Senate voted similarly, 70-26. We appreciate those family physician who contacted their representatives urging them to support HR 6331. A special thanks to members of the South Carolina Congressional delegation who supported HR 6331 - Reps. Henry Brown, Joe Wilson, Bob Inglis, John Spratt, and James Clyburn.
